What is NABERS?
The National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) is a national rating system that measures the environmental performance of Australian buildings, tenancies and homes. Put simply, NABERS measures the energy efficiency, water usage, waste management and indoor environment quality of a building or tenancy and its impact on the environment. With the NABERS rating system, owners and managers get important insights into how well specific locations, setups and structures perform and what to expect in a given situation.

How We Manage NABERS:
We monitor and manage your building to preserve your NABERS accreditation and rating. Your rating will ensure your structure remains in compliance and that you are making the most of your assets and expenditures. As part of an extensive NABERS service, BBM's NABERS assessors will benchmark your initial rating and ensure the responsibilities for either:

NABERS Criteria to Monitor:
Each month, we monitor the following information for each property or unit we work with:
Building Information: Details about your location, including the size, number of people living there and even the number of computers in use when the structure is occupied. We monitor:
- Area
- Occupancy > 20% (hours per week)
- Number of Occupants
- Number of computers switched on when occupied
How much energy is consumed by your facility or structure and what percentage of your consumption is Green Power? We monitor all the following points to ensure benchmarks are met every month:}
- Electricity
a. Consumption – kWh
b. Percentage of Green Power
c. This will calculate kg – CO2 - Natural Gas
a. Consumption – MJ
b. This will calculate kg – CO2 - Diesel
a. Consumption – L
b. This will calculate kg – CO2 - Coal
a. Consumption – Tonnes
b. This will calculate kg – CO2
How much water does your facility or structure use? This metric includes a review of the amount of Kilolitres consumed and the sources that water comes from.

Not included – Rainwater/ Greywater
Waste production, including garbage (non-recyclable), recycling streams and other lines are audited and monitored to meet NABERS strict guidelines and regulation. Waste services and monitoring includes:
